When work and field trips are both urgent

Moms would love to participate in field trips.
Field trips are exciting! Getting to visit and explore new places is a lot fun.
A chance to observe kid's behavior with his / her classmates.
Also a chance to meet and get acquainted with other parents.
It would be a lot of chit-chat I suppose.
Moreover, its a bonding opportunity for mom and kid.

But when kid's field trip schedule fall at the same time with an important work schedule,

would be one of mom's worst nightmare!
One of the predicament working parents face!
That working mom can't be absent since...
- it is a very important meeting with a very important client; or
- working mom is the presenter of a product demo; or
- a discussion with team to determine if a product needs to be release or not despite issues just uncover; or
- working mom is the facilitator of a product release planning;
or whatever important schedule that hinders mom to join kid's field trip because of work.
I tell you, its so frustrating!

I envy the SAHMs and WAHMs right now!

Even if our 3-year old would understand that papa will join him on his field trip since mama has work, that still saddens me. I blew up the chance of making another happy memories with my kid.

Does some working moms felt it too?
How did you handle it?

P.S.
It's the dad who accompany our 3-yr old son's field trip.
My sincere Thank You to my dearest hubby who took a leave to accompany son's field trip to the zoo.

Oh well! at least dad and son are making another memories :D

Love is Patient, Love is Kind

This is one of the topics during our Effective Communications training.
The ever famous verse from Christian Bible during this time of the year or during weddings or on talks marriage and relationship.
I can't help but think of him when I heard these words.
He is someone so dear to me
One who pursues me still when I said no
Willingly waits even if I'm half an hour late
Takes good care of me even if I'm not sick
Sees the bad side of me and yet still accept me as I am
Argues with me yet the first one to say sorry
Taught me the value of using money wisely
Marry me and my whole family
Chose me to be the mom of his children
My nurse when Im' still recovering from caesarian delivery
Sings lullabies for me and for my babies even if he is out of tune
Dance and never mind if he looks odd with his steps
Cracks jokes just to make me and my kids laugh
Taught me more the value of life and family
He is best thing that ever happen to me
He love me more than I love him
I thank God for having him in my life

To you my ever dearest hubby, Happy Valentines Day
Thank You my hubby for loving me that much!
I can't reciprocate all the things you have done to me
That's patience
That's kind
That's love

My first attempt on making Hello Kitty Cake and Cupcakes

I love baking and decorating stuff.
I am grateful for everyone who share their cakes and cupcake creations in the net.
One of my favorites are Michelle's creation of i-heart-baking
Her creations are simple yet beautifully crafted.
Awesome! is the word.
And then there's Aikko of Bake Happy
We live in the same country and she uses products locally available
More importantly, she shares her recipe. Isn't it amazing?!

So when a friend requested for a hello kitty cake and cupcakes.
I go through Michelle and Aiko's blog for help and inspiration.

Here are my first attempt of making Hello Kitty cake and cupcakes:

Cake's flavor is moist chocolate with cream cheese buttercream frosting (which becomes runny).

I made carrot cupcake with cream cheese buttercream frosting. Notice the different shades of frosting, I made two batches, the first one is runny, the second one curdles :(
I also made chocolate cupcake with chocolate ganache which I think turn out good.
I know they are not close to perfection yet I hope the birthday girl would still be delighted seeing Hello Kitty in her cake and cupcakes.

To Michelle and Aikko
Thank you for sharing your creations and recipes.

The SunLife Money Bank

Saw this on a friend's timeline
Then me, feeling crafty, asked some samples on it
2 days after, I received this folder (Thanks Jen :D)
And last weekend, I let my daughter assemble it

It's a Sun Life Money Bank

A cute representation on letting kids understand the concept of handling money in three different ways. And though my 8-yr old and 3-yr old doesn't fully understand financial-related matters yet, this may be a good jumpstart for them developing good money habits.
By understanding what is Spending, Saving, Sharing.

Spend

 - money box for the day-to-day living expenses such as utility bills, transportation and food. The money you need to be able to get from month to month.

Save

 - money box for either an event like buying a house or car or debt repayment or even your retirement fund or children's education fund.

Share

 - money box for donations to church or charity, entertainment expenses, and vacations with loved ones.

This also serves as a reminder for me to realize how simple God's request is:
- love God and be thankful for the blessings he showers on us;
- love yourself and your family and give them the best without being too complex;
- love and share what you have with your neighbor and the community no matter how small it is.
Then surely it would be a wonderful world.

Its time to get financially educated.
