Summer 2013

It started out with my family's trip to Cebu all the way from Cagayan de Oro City. They came as a promise and gratitude for the blessing received. My mom vow to visit Simala Church at Sibonga, Cebu.
On our way to Sibonga, we stopped at the Church of the Immaculate Heart of Mary (the pink church) at Minglanilla, Cebu.
We also linger by St. Francis of Assisi Church of Naga, Cebu. Got amazed with the bell's tower which stands separately from the main church (just like the famous Cagsawa Church beside Mt. Mayon).
Taking a pose beside the statue of St. Francis of Asisi.
Energy has been drained when we reached Simala Church due to hot weather. But that does not hinder us to climb the church. My mom attended the mass while the rest of us went up to Mama Mary's statue.
To refresh and refuel our spirit, we went to Alcoy, Cebu to take a dip in their beautiful beaches. I personally love it.
Sadly, we stay only for a short period of time because we need to be back at Cebu before the sun downs. We still have to visit Sto. Nino Church.
The following day, we attend the mass at Our Lady of Rule Church, Lapu-Lapu (sorry, was not able to capture special moments there) and went to see the Lapu-Lapu Shrine after.
Too bad we are so drained that even malling at Ayala Terraces doesn't help. They have to rest since they have to go home to CDO the following day.
One week after, its our time to go home and visit our hometown, City of Golden Friendship.
Having fun with cousins.
Saying hello to Wawa Eng-Eng.
The best part of it, beating the summer heat by taking a swim at Marco Hotel's Pool.
Oh well! Summer 2013 is still not over yet :D

Honey turns 7

Someone has just turn 7 yrs old last March. She is now in a pruning stage.
Mature enough to argue with me yet still needs guidance and explanation on why I sometimes does not agree with her.
Old enough to be a responsible ate to her little brother Jiggy yet still needs cuddling and affection from her mom and dad.
(Personally created the cake for her. This is inspired from i-heart-baking and Sprinkle Bakes and Sweetapolita).
Independent enough to decides on what she likes (especially on what clothes she wants to wear) yet still ask my approval on how she looks.
Old enough to determine which is good and bad but still needs further understanding on what disciplining mean.
Happy birthday Honey and I hope you will grow to become a good and God-fearing daughter
We love you so much :D

{Only in Pinas} Pinoy's election campaign posters

Had seen this election poster hanging in the one of hotel building somewhere in Mabolo.
Also seen another election poster somewhere in Tipolo.

And another election poster somewhere in Maguikay.

Just wondering if the poster size is within the guidelines set by "Rules and Regulations regarding Election Campaign" here in the Philippines.

Trek to Osmena Peak traverse to Kawasan Falls

I would not let February 2013 pass without bragging that I (as once hopeful) was able to climb Cebu's Osmena Peak and traverse to Kawasan Falls. I always wanted trekking as a hobby, so I said yes on the invitation (though it took me days to convince hubby to go with me:D).

Going there was easy as our bus bring us all the way to Mantalungon, Dalaguete market. As we start our ascend towards Mantalungon, believe me as it was not a bumpy ride. In-fact, the roads there are better there than here in the city plus you get to enjoy the breathtaking view of nature and be comforted by the cold fresh air.
As the sign board says "Dalagute, The Vegetable Basket of Cebu", it truly it is as I notice that vegetable and fruits farmlands like sayote, cabbage, green onions, bell peppers, banana and chinese pechays are everywhere. A 10php worth of banana (lakatan) in the city is only 2.50php in Dalaguete is surely a treat.
Before we start our ascend towards the peak, we stopped at the market for our lunch to make sure everybody's tummy is fully loaded :D It takes approximately 2 hrs for us to climb and reach the campsite (btw, most of us are newbie trekkers). The weather is not cooperative as rain pours now and then. The trail is slippery and muddy. Winds were blown from different directions.
Fogs engulf us, thus, we were not able to see the full view from the top (sigh!) Because of the weather, we find it difficult to set up our tents. Strong winds indeed as one of our tents was carried by it. We even change campsite location just to evade the winds (unfortunately, cold winds can't be avoided).
Making dinner was even more difficult, good thing that the team's synergy is uplifting enough to make dinner done in time. As for me, since I cannot the beat the coldness of the air, I just stayed inside tent. I'd say it was one of my longest night ever. I'm not sure if I was able to sleep, everything is so cold.
Morning dew greet us and nature is kind enough to let us peek into the scene for a few seconds . It was rewarding enough.
Our trail to Kawasan Falls took us more or less 6-hr walk. It started out exciting then becomes painful especially for me since I am not used to long walks. But as I hear the rushing of water from the Kawasan, I become excited again and determined to reach it.
Muscles are aching for a week after this journey and I am proud of completing it (special gratitude to my hubby for the support). It was worth a climb. Memories are stamped and will never be erased, wishlist #25 of Wishlist was granted and I am hoping go back and visit the peak again...soon :D
